Welcome to Owls Class!
The Spring term has arrived, let's find out all about "Muck, Mess and Mixtures!"
In the Owls Class, our topic for the Spring will be ‘Muck, Mess and Mixtures”. The children will be investigating the answers to the following questions:
- What shape is a bubble?
- Where does mud come from?
- How is ice-cream made?
- Why do we need plastic?
- How are Easter eggs made?
Our topics are integrated across the curriculum, throughout all subjects and in line with Big Writing for English. If you have any interesting artefacts, photos or even experiences your child would like to share which would link to our topic, please talk to your child’s teaching staff to arrange bringing them in to school.
During International Week, we will be learning all about New York; the famous landmarks and buildings, traditional food and listening to music associated with New York. If you or your child would like to bring in any souvenirs or have any interesting facts, Miss Lilley would love to hear or see them during our International Week!
Each week your child’s homework will be to complete 30 minutes of Maths whizz and Reading Eggs which are assessed and monitored weekly. Children will read daily during their RWI lesson and we ask that they also read at home three times a week. Please sign your child's reading diary each time you hear them read. This will help your child to receive their reading sticker which contributes to them choosing a book to keep when their bookmark is filled with stickers. Every Friday each class will be completing for the reading trophy in celebration assembly, the more children that read 3 times a week the more chance we have of winning!
If you have any queries in regards to this homework, please don't hesitate to speak to Miss Lilley or Miss Palmer.
We have PE every Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure that your child's PE kit is kept in school so that they have access to their PE kit at all times. This should include black shorts, a white t-shirt, plimsolls and black tracksuit bottoms or leggings. No ear rings are to be worn for P.E lessons, please take them out before school on P.E days.
Please also ensure that your child has spare clothing in their bags in case of any toilet accidents. These should be kept in school on your child’s coat peg.
Owls will be cooking on Thursdays. Please make sure that your child has a labelled container in school prior to cooking and that you have handed in a cooking donation at the beginning of the school year, so that they can take home their delicious treats.
If you have any queries, concerns or would like an appointment to see your class teacher,
Miss Lilley will be on the door each morning but if a meeting is needed, she is available after school (please arrange with her prior to meeting).
