An external piano teacher comes into school during the school day to teach pupils individually.
Lessons are typically 20 minutes and the children attend in pairs. Note-reading, ear training, beats / rhythm and keyboard technique are all covered during the course of the year, as well as developing the expression of ideas through music.
A piece of music is sent home each week for the children to practice so an instrument is required - this doesn't need to be a piano, a keyboard is just as good during the beginner stage. Theory worksheets are sometimes sent home too, to be completed and returned the next week.
