In the Owls Class, our topic for the Autumn term will be ‘The Time Traveller’, we will be travelling back in time as far as the Victorian times and learn all about what it was like to live during that time! We will explore what it would have been like to be a child in the Victorian times, who Queen Victoria was and all about the amazing inventions, like the camera, the postage stamp and bathing machines! Our topics are integrated across the curriculum, throughout all subjects and in line with Big Writing for English. If you have any interesting Victorian artefacts, photos or even experiences your child would like to share with us please don't hesitate bringing them in or telling us all about them!
For this terms international week, we will be learning all about Japan; their cultures, food, traditions, festivals and language. If you or your child would like to bring in any souvenirs or have any interesting facts, Mrs McNorton would love to hear or see them during our international week!
Each week your child’s homework will be to complete 30 minutes of Maths whizz and Reading Eggs which are assessed and monitored weekly. Spellings will be given out at the beginning of each term to be learnt at home and will be assessed at the end of the term. Children will read at least twice a week at school and we ask that they also read at home three times a week in addition to diaries being read and signed each time. This will help your child to receive their reading sticker, ALSO each Friday each class will be completing for the reading trophy in celebration assembly, the more children that read 3 times a week the more chance we have of winning!
If you have any queries in regards to this homework, please don't hesitate to speak to Mrs McNorton or Miss Palmer.
We have PE every Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure that your child's PE kit is kept in school so that they have access to their PE kit at all times and where possible please make sure that a pair of tracksuit bottoms are packed in addition to shorts, in case of winter weather.
If your child is unable to tie their shoelaces, we ask kindly that they have plimsolls with no laces.
Please also ensure that your child has spare clothing in their bags in case of any toilet accidents. These should be kept in school on your child’s coat peg.
Year twos will be cooking Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please make sure that your child has a labelled container in school each Monday so that they can take home their delicious treats.
If you have any queries, concerns or would like an appointment to see your class teacher,
Mrs McNorton will be available each morning on the playground.
