Welcome to Owls Class!
Spring term has begun, let the learning commence!
Welcome to the Owls class!
In the Owls Class, our topic for the Spring term will be 'On your marks, get set, GO!'. This term will be learning how to keep healthy through sports. We will take specific focus on all winter sports as we get closer to the 2018 Winter Olympics! Our topics are intregrated across the curriculum, throughout all subjects and in line with Big Writing for English.
This terms international week, we will be learning all about Canada; their cultures, food, traditions, festivals and language. If you or your child would like to bring in any canadian souvenirs (Maple syrup mmmm) or have any interesting facts, Mrs McNorton would love to hear or see them during our international week!
At the end of each Week, a blog will be posted on our class page, this will include a written update and photos on the learning we have been doing during that week!
Each Thursday, children will receive Big Talk and maths homework in addition to their spellings to learn. These are sent home on a Thursday and expected back in school by the following Tuesday. Spellings will be given out weekly and children will be tested individually. Children will read at least twice a week at school and we ask that they also read at home three times a week in addition to diaries being read and signed each time. This will help your child to receive their reading sticker, ALSO each Friday each class will be completing for the reading trophey in celebraton assembly, the more children that read 3 times a week the more chance we have of winning!
If you have any queries in regards to this homework, please don't hesitate to speak to Mrs McNorton or Mrs Farmer.
We have PE every Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child's PE kit is kept in school so that they have access to their PE kit at all times and where possible please make sure that a pair of tracksuit bottoms are packed in addition to shorts, incase of winter weather.
If your child is unable to tie their shoelaces, we ask kindly that they have plimsoles with no laces.
Please also ensure that your child has spare clothing in their bags in case of any toilet accidents. These should be kept in school on your childs coatpeg.
We do cooking on a Wednesday. Please make sure that your child has a labelled container in school each Monday so that they can take home their delicious treats.
If you have any queries, concerns or would like an appointment to see your class teacher, Mrs McNorton will be available each morning on the playground.
